Am I the only one to ever have to tell a child that a plunger is not a toy and please don't put it on your brother and sister's heads? And to have to say it more than once, in a single day/ hour? I mean, YUCK! Then when I looked again, it was 2 plungers, one in either hand, where do they come up with this stuff? All their thousands of toys, and they want the plungers?
Odd, just odd.
In other news, today was really fun, the kids finished decorating their eggs with stickers, we had a huge lunch, an egg hunt, a Veggie Tale Easter Carol, and finished up with a small supper and off to bed.
Wy heads back to school tomorrow, and life will be getting back to normal around here.
A dream is like a river, ever changing as it flows. The dreamer's just a vessel that must follow where it goes.

Why?
Why do we spend all the time setting up for coloring eggs, put up with all of the mess, and everything that follows when our children don't eat hard boiled eggs?

Taking It All In
Every year I leave Hearts at Home with a few simple ideas weighing on my heart and head. Normally they are very simple ideas that i have already known, they are just presented in a manner that makes me really want to work on them. This year one of the reoccurring themes was to simply embrace the moments around us. We find ourselves saying things like, when the kids are this age, then I'll... or when they reach this stage we can... Instead I have felt a challenge to grab the moments around me. The 2 yr old sitting in the bottom of the fridge. The 4 yr old with her favorite coloring book at the table for three hours, the 7 yr old who is so wise and grown up while still being so innocent and such a small child. He is just priceless. growing up so quickly right before my eyes. Or if it is the baby, 5 mo old and having stolen the hearts of everyone in our family. Even the rambunctious little kids sit and are cuddle with him and are so sweet with him.
So I am trying to grab these moments as they seem to fly past us. Trying to slow down and enjoy this life, right now, and not be so desperate for the future that we miss it.
That being said, I am also always very challenged to be better. Challenged to be a better wife, mother, friend, follower of Christ and all around just better.
This year was slightly different because we came home and went straight into spring break, now tell me God doesn't have sense of humor!!! What a week to resolve to be a better more patient mom. It has been pretty warm, I just wish it would dry out so we could get rid of some of this mud. Enough is enough already. And now they are saying snow over night. Is spring ever coming?

have you?
Have you ever considered dunking your dorito's in you milk?
Have you ever picked up your milk jug and shook it and then wondered what that sound is, only to find a spoon that was formerly in a 2 yr old yogurt and mouth at the bottom?
Have you ever repeated to a child to do something so many times that the other children in the house and even the dogs are starting to think you are crazy?
Have you ever held a beautiful face in your hands and told that child to look at you only to have them squeeze their eyes as tightly shut as possible to avoid looking at you?
have you ever taken a small piece of wood away from a child only to have that child break down and cry that they got it from the playground and therefore it is special?
if you have done these things, or if they bring many others to mind, as they do for me, then you too have been blessed, yes BLESSED to spend your days with fabulous child such as mine.

Aren't those cute? I am quite sure that with different pictures we would probably get different answers, but still, it should end some of the argument over who looks like whom. (see my good grammar?)
OUTSIDE!!
So today was 58 degrees. Not summer by any means, but wow, what a warm up for us!! I was so excited to be able to have the kids play on the playground after school. It was so nice to get the winter stink blown off of them and let them burn up some energy with their friends.
We had Wy's conference after school, so they got to play with a friend's mom while we went to talk to his fabulous teacher. Every thing is going so well with him, he is so smart, and we got a really good report from his teacher today. I am just so proud of him, he never ceases to amaze me with his intelligence and genuine sincerity all the time.
Wy we love you and are very proud of you.

sleep
ever notice how beautiful they all are when they are sleeping? they aren't talking, aren't climbing anything, therefore not jumping off of anything. they are not begging for food, or just claiming it for themselves. they aren't fighting, whining, complaining, biting, screaming or any of the other wonderful things that fill the soundtrack of my day. it is just jay leno and snoring, life is good.
count them
So if you have as many kids as I do, you should count them regularly and often. Especially if you have a 2 yr old who likes to "ride the tractor" in the garage. They seem to learn how to unlock doors so quickly around here. You might really have a problem if someone leaves the "big doors" of the garage open. Then your 2 yr old with out shoes, coat or even socks just might find the driveway a fun place to be.
I am just saying, count them. Count them and put up bigger locks.
Oh yeah, then count them again.

Yogurt Painting
yep, I said yogurt painting. This is the action of a 2 year old taking his yogurt and commencing to finger paint with it. I guess that would make it finger yogurting then wouldn't it.
Well if you 2 year old hasn't tried it yet, they should, apparently it is great fun.

here we go again
After a week with the flu, where I could barely move or think, much less chase the kids, here I sit again, with Lonnie on another weekend away. This is the 4th weekend in a row that he is gone and I am here with all these little people. Things are going ok, I am just really thankful that I am not sit anymore, or it would just be torture.
Last night I got to go to a girls night out at the church. It was just a way to get away and celebrate a leap year. There were games, food, and lots of laughter. (the way all good girls nights should be)
We will have one weekend at home, and then it will be my turn start going all over the country side to various places and meetings. Our calender is very very full, but we are really trying to just enjoy it. We are making an effort to find each other in the middle and just enjoy it. We don't want to miss these days, crazy as they are.
The kids are right now playing on their "ship" on the floor with all the pillows they can find. It is really quite an involved story too. At first I wanted to tell them to clean it all up and get ready to eat and go to bed, but I am letting them just tear it up and wear themselves down. I should also mention all of the random screams that are coming from the ship, I think they must be under attack.
Over all I am simply tired, you would think that after a week of laying around I wouldn't be this tired, funny how that works.
