Changes

What a summer. This was our first experience with "summer break" We had fun, but everyone is glad to be back at school. We function much better on a schedule. #1 is in first grade, I can't believe it, but he loves it. #2 is in preschool this year, she is so excited, she is such a big girl now. That gives #3 and I some alone time a couple of afternoons a week. At least until #4 comes, then it will all change again.

God is doing some really exciting things around here. We are walking in His hands, and it is quite an exciting and wonderful place to be. As I look around at all that He is doing for us each day, moment by moment, I am becoming much more aware of how broken and messed up our world is. As my eyes are opened, I feel my heart cry daily, "It's not supposed to be this way" I am so overcome by these emotions sometimes. As I sort them out, I will try to get hem put down. Over all, it is in His hands, and there really is no better place to be.

Mother's Day

There is this interesting phenomenon that happens to most of us. I am sitting around watching TV and there are tons of Mother's day commercials on. The thought sinks in to me every year, "Wait, I am the mom" it may sound stupid but I think that all the time. I know when I became the mom, but I still wonder when it will sink in and I will feel like a grown-up.

Today, I was taken to lunch by my mom and dad (with all the kids and hubby of course) Then I was given a nap, yeah, during which my kids and hubby made me a card. It has just been a great day. The kids are watching Superman and eating popcorn, so it doesn't get much better than that.

Life Goes On

A few weeks ago, I went to "Mommy school" with a coupe of my favorite people to hang out with. We had such a fun time. Every time we got into the car, we got lost, but it was fun, so it was OK. The whole weekend was relaxing and wonderful all around. However, as I learned 2 years ago, I really shouldn't go to these things while being pregnant, I am way to emotional for all of this. But the classes were great, and I was greatly impacted as always. I felt very challenged from the first session. To be a better mom, not just a better one, but the one my kids deserve, the one that God designed for them, the one he is calling me to be.
God as called my family into a time of great transition and great change. We have walked into the challenge, an are depending on Him for the best possible outcome. It is exciting, it is tiring, but in the long run we know it will be fantastic.

Lazy Days

Hubby is gone this weekend to a men's conference in Chicago. The kids and I went to the school winter carnival last night. This is my first experience with a school carnival as a mom. It was quite an experience. The kids had a blast, and all was perfectly timed to arrive home just in time for bedtime. We all slept in this morning, and just kind of hung out around the house most of the day. Friends came over this afternoon whose hubby is also out of town, so the kids all just ran around the house and tore it up while as the mommys sat around the living room and didn't really do a whole lot. The kids love the play time. Now all are settled in bed and the dishes are done, the house in clean and I am just killing time until hubby comes home. (In truth I will probably be in bed long before that) All in all, a pretty good day. : )

Chearleaders

Today was pretty not interesting. But I have this wonderful little girl who follows me around all day to make me feel better. She is full of compliments. By far the cutest thing she has started is following either me or her daddy around and at random times she will start cheering for us "Go Mommy, Go Mommy, Go Mommy" it just makes you feel good about doing the laundry :) When we ask her about it, she simply says "I'm your cheerleader" with a look at you that says you plainly should have known that, any idiot can see it. With motivation like that, I just might move past procrastination to activity soon (But not too soon, I don't want to confuse anyone)

My boys went to see a Jazz trumpet player tonight. they thought it was a single man, but it turned out to be a complete ensamble. They were both pleasantly surprised. What a great fun event for them. We love the local entertainment you stumble upon sometimes.

Weekend

What a weekend! On Sat with all the ice and snow and more ice, wow. On that night, wouldn't you know, we had a babysitter lined up, and all was ready for us to go out. Our sitter called and said she would still come. The concert we were going to was cancelled, but our friends are crazy and wanted to go out anyway, so we went out to eat in the middle of it all. It was fun.
Everyone in our house was holding out for a late start today,but no such luck. Oh well.

My beautiful little girl is sitting with me and telling me I am "my best mommy ever" what better compliment is there in the world? What a sweetheart.

Eight Years!

Well yesterday was our anniversary. My day started out at the Dr.'s office w/ my 3yr. old girl has an ear infection. It is never good when the Dr. looks in the ear and says "wow, that's not good." So then it was off to WalMart (What's a day without adding to Sam's fortune?) After waiting the appropriate amount of time, they decided to tell me that they don't stock the particular brand my insurance wanted to give her. If I would like to come back tomorrow, then they might have it by then. Well, she's 3 and sick, so no thanks. Off to Walgreens we go. Eventually we made it home. Where I got to pack a lunch really quick and wait for hubby to pick me up, and off to the VA Hospital we go. After spending all afternoon in that lovely place. We do some time killing in Iowa City, then find that we have no currency with us. No debits, no checks, nothing.
Eventually we head back to Musc, get our $ and head to Davenport instead. We got to Texas roadhouse and some other places. Even though the day was slow in starting off, It ended quite nicely. Thank you so much to Grandma for staying several hours past scheduled time. We really appreciate it!
It was a very long, odd day. But it seems to be the way that our entire marriage has worked! We love it, there is never really a dull moment. Eight years down, here's thanking God for that and praying for many, many more.

New Address

Well, I had to get a new address for this blog thing yesterday, for some reason the old one wasn't going to work for me.
Today is President's Day, so no school. All three of my kids are sick. each one has slightly different symptoms, but the same bug for all. The Daddy has it too. So it isn't very fun around here right now. At least there is no school to miss.
It is definitely a snowman day today, being 40+ degrees outside. We'll have to wait and see how they are feeling before we rule that out.

Is this how it all starts?

Hello, apparently I have too been sucked into this world of make believe. This will probably not be a very interesting page, as I don't have all that exciting events happening around me daily, but we'll give it a try.
I am at home tonight while my hubby is out with the guys. The Kids are all in bed, so this is where I am at.
Today was a very lazy day around our house, lots of movies, playing and just hanging out. I love those days when all we have on the list of things to do is let the kids play, and clean up after them every now and then.
I have never blogged before, so we'll see where this goes. I hope you enjoy reading my ramblings and I look forward to anyone's comments. Please be kind in what you say. Thank you and Good night
