my mom

So i read back through what i wrote about my mom today. it clearly isn't enough.

i was operating on the basis that anyone that reads this knows her and could fill in the gaps. but i think i will attempt to fill in some of them now.

my mom is fabulous.
she is the mom who helps me paint rooms in my house.
she is the mom who painted my sister's whole house before she moved into it.

she is the mom who loves my kids.
and all their friends.
and kids she just met.

she is called grandma by 7 biological grandchildren, and at least 8-10 more that i can think of.
and there are many i can't think of.

she is called mom by myself and my sister, our husbands, and even several of our friends.

she has been called wife by the same man for over 30 years.

my mom is a phenominal prayer warrior.

she is the one we call when we aren't sure how to pray.

she is the one all our friends call when they aren't sure either.

my mom is always there when i have a problem.
either to listen, give advice, or tell me i am not crazy. (or that maybe i am)

my mom spent an entire day in my crazy disorganized basement to help me move some rooms around.
she has done this more than once.

my mom came and deep cleaned my bathrooms when i was pregnant and too tired to do so.

at every birthday party she is there first to help set up, and leaves last after it is clean.

amazingly, she doesn't play pass the poopy kid. she just changes them.

she has been known to stop by just for a minute and leave several hours later just because she knew i needed an adult that day.
or maybe i just needed my mom.

she watches our kids, our dogs, our bird and our cat. she follows the directions and knows the schedules for all of them.

on multiple occasions she has spent her afternoon sorting toys in my kids rooms.
( i LOVE how she can pick up one little piece and almost always know where it goes! makes me laugh because i do too)

she is never to busy for the kids.

she serves pudding at every holiday because when wy was 3 he said it wasn't a holiday if there was no pudding.

my mom is awesome.

today was her birthday.

i just want everyone to be aware of how great she is.

Grandma

We got to spend this afternoon at my parent's house in celebration of my mom's birthday tomorrow. All 13 of us. It was fun. Sometimes these gatherings are not the best, but today was really enjoyable.

My mom is a great person to have in your life. She is there when we need her. She is a fabulous mom, friend, mother in law and grandma.

I love how she doesn't call the boys sons-in- law. They are her sons. That's all and I love that.

Wyatt says she is the best back scratcher around.

We really couldn't ask for another one.

Happy Birthday Mom,
we love you!

him

we are in the middle of another big transition in our home. we don't know where it will take us or what it will look like on the other side.

this is not new to us.

but it still sucks.

i can say this though, there are days, like this one, that wear on me. they wear me so far down that i don't think i can go any further.

but something will happen then and change it all.

lonnie and i have been snipping at each other all day.

not pleasant.

my mom stopped by. she was in my house for 4 minutes before she had somewhere else to be. not good.

so at 4 or so he says, get someone for these kids we are going to dinner.

we weren't gone long. we took the bike.

it was nice.

i love him. there are moments in my day that make realize that with astounding clarity. (not that i forget)
if there is anyone on the planet i would like to have beside me through all this chaos it is him.

no doubt.

just him.

at the door

so here we are again.
standing at the door.
knocking.
ringing the bell.
knocking again.

in our modern theology we believe that when we knock the door is opened.
now.
we believe that is we ask we will receive.
now.

but sometimes...
we knock. and then we wait.
and wait.

then we hear something inside the door.
a sound maybe.
an indication that someone IS there.

like maybe it is a screen door.
the One inside says "in a minute"

He knows we are knocking.
we know He is there.

and so we wait.

He will open when he is ready,
not when we are.

we get bored.
we fidget.
we think of leaving.

we knock again.
we get impatient.
sometimes we get demanding.

but still we wait.

because until He opens the door,
it isn't opening.
at all.

when do we ever learn this lesson completely?
