so here we are again.
standing at the door.
knocking.
ringing the bell.
knocking again.
in our modern theology we believe that when we knock the door is opened.
now.
we believe that is we ask we will receive.
now.
but sometimes...
we knock. and then we wait.
and wait.
then we hear something inside the door.
a sound maybe.
an indication that someone IS there.
like maybe it is a screen door.
the One inside says "in a minute"
He knows we are knocking.
we know He is there.
and so we wait.
He will open when he is ready,
not when we are.
we get bored.
we fidget.
we think of leaving.
we knock again.
we get impatient.
sometimes we get demanding.
but still we wait.
because until He opens the door,
it isn't opening.
at all.
when do we ever learn this lesson completely?
