I had an incredible experience at church on Saturday evening.
We were there, nothing exceptional going on, and a few rows in front of us, was a full row of teens. These are the typical teenage boys that normally are way to cool to be in church. But they were all there. Not a big deal at all.
Then the worship started. I was so moved, not only by the worship itself, which was really good, but by these teens. They threw themselves into it with reckless abandon. Hands raised high, sing loud, full on worship.
For some reason this really moved me.
As adults, we tend to carry our problems with us everywhere we go. When we are in worship we don't really let it go, or hand it over, we simply move them aside for a bit, and pick them up when we are done.
We tend to come to corporate worship wondering what we can get out of it.
These boys were the opposite, they were each laying it all out there, for everyone to see.
It was motivating to me. Challenging. Encouraging.
I felt prompted to really lay myself out there. To really pour my heart into my worship and not hold back.
And then to carry that forth with me when I left.
